In the morning I went to see mum at the care home we sat in the chapel and chatted for about 45 minutes. Well chatted is probably not the right word. It was more of a monologue on my part rather than a conversation.
We headed into town in the middle of the afternoon and met Vikki at Green Park Station and walked down to BAFTA headquarters at 195 Piccadilly. Bill Gates launched his new book ‘ How to Prevent the Next Pandemic’ to an invited audience. Amol Rajan interviewed Bill for 30 minutes and then Sarah Gilbert from Oxford University and another bod joined them on stage.

After the one hour talk Alex shuffled us into the VIP area where we were introduced to Bill. We had a few words with him and then Alex organised us into a selfie.

Maggi also had a selfie with Amol Rajan.

After having our brief moment with a billionaire we went to the reception area where we met Tim Davey the MD for BBC. It amazed me how casually dressed he was, for example he arrived in plimsols.

We really enjoyed ourselves in the reception. Alex had invited some long term friends from University such as Alice, Hannah and Rachel’s husband Gavin. In addition Amy Fuller was there and they all spoke to Sarah Gilbert who had been on the panel. Sarah Gilbert had spoken really well during the discussion and she was also happy to sign Bill Gates’ new book.
When the reception had finished Mel, Vikki, Maggi and I walked down the road to go to Burger and Lobster in Mayfair where we had a pleasant meal at the bar.
