Harry and I walk in Chelsea

Harry and I met up at Sloane Square. I found him having a coffee at Colberts on the corner of Sloane Square next door to The Royal Court. He had planned to make a tour of Chelsea with all the stories from the Hidden London Walks book.

I asked Harry if he had lost any weight since we last met and he prevaricated, which probably means he has added a few pounds. We chatted over our coffees for half hour and then set off for the walk our first stop, the Royal Hospital, home for the Chelsea Pensioners. The book suggested we could walk through the Hospital but since Covid this has stopped

We continues along the outside until we found the entrance to the shop and museum. We walked around the museum which was mildly interesting, all very military. They did have an interesting display. A model of the hospital grounds upon which a film shone down with different scenarios from the history of the Hospital. For example it showed the attacks of the Luftwaffe and the damage inflicted and where new buildings had superseded previous structures.

From the Hospital we proceeded down to the embankment and headed westward in front of the Physic Garden to Cheney Walk. Cheney Walk has housed some very famous people from the world of culture including George Eliot(Mary Ann Evans), Rossetti, Keith Richards, Mick Jagger and many more.

We stopped for a drink in an empty but very attractive pub. At the end of Cheney Walk we became tired of the book. I think the extreme cold and wind may have a lot to do with that.

We headed back to Sloane Square following along Kings Road. We stopped for a pizza on the way which filled me up.

When we arrived back at the Square we parted, Harry to the underground while I walked around to Cadogan Hall to check out the start time of the Imelda May concert we have booked with Jane and Ray. The tickets state that all will begin at 6pm. The lady at the box office said all that meant was that the start time hadn’t been decided.

Cadogan Hall

Trained back to Pinner where I watched Arsenal beat Dynamo Zagreb 3-0. However the match still didn’t show that the team was back to full power.
