We set off for Heathrow after lunch and arrived at the short stay car park. Here we waited for nearly half hour for the Terminals Parking guy to turn up and take our car..
After this annoyance the rest of our journey passed uneventfully. At Glasgow airport Adam and Islay picked us up and drove back to Aytoun Road. We sat around drinking the canned cocktails Maggi had sent up earlier this week. Sarah served up a lentil dish with rice.
Saturday
Keir had an away football match and Adam managed to find a team member’s parent who would drive Keir there and back. Maggi, Adam, Islay and I drove to Keir’s drop off point and then stopped off at Waitrose. We bought a few things including a bottle of whiskey for my entertainment and future visitors to Aytoun Road.
At lunch time we walked back to Pollockshields, the area where Adam used to live, for lunch. Adam had booked ‘The Loveable Rogue’. As we entered the restaurant I wondered whether we would enjoy a decent meal. An empty restaurant never inspires confidence and we were alone. I looked at the menu and didn’t think much of the choices.

I had eaten quite a large breakfast and and we’d had drinks at home with snacks so I didn’t want a large meal. I chose scotch egg with a side order of chips.
Actually the scotch egg tasted great. In the middle the yolk ran and the egg was hot and freshly cooked. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their food with smiles and good vibes all round. By the time we left every table had become occupied. Obviously they eat late in this part of Glasgow.
We walked back to the house taking a slightly longer but quieter route along the Aytoun Road. On our return I watched the a rugby match, a football game and another rugby match. I stayed full after our lunch and only ate a slice of bread with cheese for my supper.
Sunday
Maggi and I woke up around 7 am. I watched a couple of games on Match of the Day because they might affect Arsenal’s position at the top of the table. Fortunately both Liverpool and Manchester City both lost. A little bit of breakfast and then mooching around.
Both Finn and Sorely’s rugby game were cancelled due to a water logged pitch. We went to the hospice at the end of Nitsdell Road and everyone but me ordered cheesecake. I don’t know what the fuss was all about. I tasted Maggi’s cake and thought it ok, but she had recently made a fat superior cheesecake.
We had a walk around the adjacent park and then walked back up Nitsdell Road to the house. We had our Christmas Day present opening where the kids had winter jackets and Islay had what she requested. In addition they received £75. Keir knew exactly ho he would spend the money. The others had no idea, but I’m sure they’ll spend it.
Sarah and Adam had made a nice meal based around a leg of lamb. We had broccoli along with roast potatoes with gravy, roast onions and carrots. An excellent meal. In addition Adam had managed to create, with Maggi’s help, an Apple crumble. A nice meal followed by a bit of relaxation and then we left for the airport to return home.
I love to see Adam and the grandkids. It’s also nice to provide them with presents they’re happy with. All together it was a relaxing and enjoyable weekend. I even received a present of the latest Ohilip Sands Book. Having read and loved his previous two I’m looking forward to getting stuck into this one.
Adam drove us to the airport along with Islay, Sorely and Finn. Keir stayed behind to watch The Arsenal v Tottenham Hotspur game on the tv. I hope to keep the score secret so i can live my life peacefully with no outside distractions
