Boxing Day has no official status in the US so all the shops reopened and many people returned to work. However Alex has two weeks off work and doesn’t return until 4th January much of the joy of working at the foundation.
This morning I started the day with an Adriene yoga session and then found out that Maggi felt unwell. She stayed in bed and had no breakfast, just a coffee.
Gigi and Dan
Alex had arranged to visit Gigi and Dan at their lakeside property. All of us except Maggi drove over and had a lunch based around shashshukazz. Sadie and Carrie turned their nose up at such a weird concoction and ate the other bits available on the table.
Gigi and Dan have such a nice view from their main room. They look right down Portage Bay which has pleasure boats and paddle boarders floating about, but not in the winter. I don’t know what I think about the couple. They somehow feel slightly false. All too ready to praise and laugh out loud at the mildest of jokes. I don’t know how Dan thinks of Alex now that she is his boss. As she’s more than 15 years younger perhaps he feels let down that he didn’t get her job. However is he tough enough to make a difference at a place like the Foundation.
Miriam and Chris
At 5 pm we walked across the road to Miriamand Chris’s place. We’ve visited them before in the summer and sat outside to have a few drinks and a snack. Tonight when it’s quite cold we sat outside for a couple of drinks and a snack. Why not invite people into your house in such cold weather, I don’t understand it.
Miriam is the social one. Chris kept disappearing for 5 minutes at a time and seemed slightly uncomfortable to be chatting away. She, however, finds social chit chat very easy. After 1 ½ hours Maggi and I escaped and prepared the table for our evening supper.
We watched Australia v England in the ashes series which the Australians have already won. But for this test they had a comeback and won the match in two days.
I managed to sort out the Immich project so the family can share a photo library. I have no idea if they will ever use the project.
