Thank goodness that when I woke up the dog hadn’t spread his poo around the communal room.
I had a shower and ablutions and then exited the bedroom to make breakfast. Nobody awake as I ate my yogurt and toast. I boiled the kettle and took a coffee up to Maggi who slept in Sadie’s room. My presence woke her.
Alex appeared and then disappeared off to yoga. I didn’t want to hang around doing nothing so I walked to Macrina and Ken’s to buy milk and bread. A very pleasant walk among the comfortable houses of Queen Anne. The neighbourhood is distinctly middle class. You do occasionally see properties that haven’t been well maintained but they are a very small minority.
If you are walking a dog passers by tend to smile back at you. Without a dog people are nowhere near as welcoming and rarely smile back.
In the afternoon we all jumped into the Rivian and drove to Greenlake to join many others and making the tour of the lake. Adolescent attitudes have definitely affected Sadie. She frequently plays the part of the discriminated teenager, who has been badly done by. She demonstrated this when she wouldn’t sit in the middle seat. She then refused to countenance having a birthday party on any other day than her actual birthday.

We made our lake tour enjoying the sunshine whenever it appeared and chilled by the cold wind.
Aftrer eating a delicious upside down fish pie that Greg made we headed over to Tim’s house in Magnolia. A quick drink here. By now I had decided that I wouldn’t take in anymore alcohol. I watched proceedings and tried to hear the proceedings in front of me.
From Magnolia we then carried on to Capitol Hill and The Nomadic Bar, partially owned by Tim. The place only had our party of 8 and 3 others in the bar. Maggi and I only stayed for 20 minutes and then we drove back, arriving home at 10:30 ish. I went to bed more or less as soon as we returned. I’m sure I haven’t been in bed so early before on New Year’s eve, unless perhaps I’ve been ill.
