Second Soller Walk

Another really interesting breakfast of salad with fruit, toast with cheese, tomato and garlic, plus the local jams and more toast.

We set off again on another more adventurous  trek than yesterday. A climb of roughly 2000 ft and then we dropped down to Port Soller. We suffered the same heat as yesterday but we didn’t have the chance to stop and enjoy a beer or other cold beverage. We just had to plough on.

Luckily before we left Soller I stopped at a bakery to buy a sandwich. Most people followed suit which meant at least we had our water and sandwich on the trip.

When we arrived at the outskirts of Port Soller we discovered a roundabout with a bus waiting. Maggi and I decided to jump on board and take this bus back to Soller and save ourselves another ¾ hour walk.

The others continued on to the beach.

When we arrived in Soller centre I foolishly suggest having an ice-cream which turned into a chocolate frappe with extra cream on the top. A complete over indulgence on my part for which I’m not at all proud.

Chocolate Frappe

A lovely shower and hair wash plus a siesta until we set off again for Port Soller. We again took the bus and walked down to the harbour. The yachts and beach all in a natural shelter from the sea was bound to attract developers and tourists. All the buildings in this bowl appear less than 40 years old.

We walk along the front and have a drink in a bar and then move onto the restaurant where 5 of us chose the seafood paella. It tasted fine but no better. The fried anchovies and tomato  burrata salad we shared as a starter tasted much better.

Food over we jumped in a cab and returned to the Moonten Hotel for a fairly early night which I felt was fully justified after the days exertion.
