Maggi & I went to Joshua Tree separately from the kids. We arose early and I had the idea to head first of all to Santa Monica and find a place to have breakfast. My mistake. Cloudy and cold weather made this an unnecessary detour. Santa Monica didn’t look anything like the way I remembered it from the early 80’s.

Anyway we found a small place to have porridge (called oatmeal here) and then went on our way. We drove almost directly eastwards heading in the direction of New York. We stopped in Palm Springs, not that far from our final destination and looked for a place to eat.
We had a cup of coffee on the sidewalk in a restaurant called Tac/Quida. We decided that this would be ideal for lunch. However they were fully booked. The kids arrived and we spent the next 90 minutes walking up and down the main shopping centre of Palm Springs looking for a decent place to eat. Eventually we ending up eating at Tac/Quida. Despite the restaurant being extremely busy I thought the food was pretty average.
We drove on after our late lunch and found the AirBnB that Greg had booked.
All the driving from LA and walking in Palm Springs meant on arrival I had overwhelming desire to go to bed. This meant that I allowed Greg to go out and shop rather than Maggi and myself.
We had a pleasant evening in our new temporary home and watched episode 1 series 3 of Succession.
