I’m writing this diary entry on the 2nd January and I have already forgotten what we did yesterday basically because we didn’t do much.
Chinooks restaurant
Maggi wanted to take the whole family out for a meal and we debated the issue for awhile, but Greg resolved that we should have fish at Chinooks Restaurant. The place sits beside the harbour at Fremont with all its fishing boats. This gives the impression that one will receive good quality fresh fish straight from the boats.

Because of New Year’s Eve nothing started early and so we didn’t all gather together and be prepared to leave until 2:30pm. This timetable also allowed us to watch Sunderland hold Manchester City to a 0-0 draw.
The last time we ate at Chinooks we had to wait in a queue to be taken to our table. Today we alone waited to be seated. In fact I wondered why it took them as long as it did to seat us in a more than half-empty restaurant.
We ordered chowder for everyone except Greg plus a main course for all without Sadie. As soon as the drinks arrived Greg rose to visit the bathroom. When he returned he said he felt odd and needed some fresh air.
I thought the Chowder OK, but when the main course arrived my heart sank. My meal consisted of a bunch of taco chips, another small bowl of chowder and some lousy fish inside a taco rap. MAggi felt disgusted with her main course, Greg didn’t eat anything as he continued to complain about a queasy tummy. All in all the visit to Chinooks became a complete restaurant disaster the only thing missing was rude waiters.
We returned home and during the evening watched the film ‘A Few Good Men’ which we all enjoyed.
I have used the time in the US to make my computer set up just as I wanted it. I have learnt how to successfully use the AI models, especially Claude which seems to be the best with coding. I hadn’t finished as I thought at the time, but further work in the Uk has resolved the issue.
January 2nd
Greg, Maggi and I walked down the hill to have a coffee at Two Kick Coffee Bar. Bennett loves the place because they always give him a treat when he arrives. The weather has changed from yesterday when we had bright sunshine and bitting cold. Today the temperature has risen and the town is damp.
The notable feature of the coffee bar is the presence of the motor bikes. Im sure the owner must be a two wheel enthusiast, because on the several screens in the place they played a motorbike race from somewhere on the planet.

After lunch we mooched around and tried to finish the third of the Christmas jigsaws and then Alex took us to the airport.
We arrived in plenty of time and made our way to S gates where they have a newly refurbished BA lounge. We had to leave the lounge early because they had changed the flight to leave from A gates. Here we waited slightly longer than scheduled for our flight home.
