Walk with Sam

  • by

Agreed to meet Sam at Pinner station at 10:30. He arrived at 10:31. Not usually a disaster to arrive 1 minute after the agreed time, but it meant that we missed the train to Amersham. I had planned a walk from Amersham to Great Missenden. A quick bit of rethinking and we took the train to Watford.

We ended up walking through Cassiobury Park, Whippendell and Horrocks Woods to Croxley Green where we had a pub lunch at The Coach & Horses. This is the first time in my life that I have sent back a pint of beer because I couldn’t drink it. It tasted bad and I felt that I would be ill if I was to drink it. The sandwich was fine and the barman changed the drink to a bland Fosters without any fuss.

Sam is always very chatty so it is easy to be very entertained by his company.

It was a beautifully sunny day if not a little bit chilly. Both of us were well dressed up to cope with the temperature. Out walking on a day like this is always a joy at this time of the year. The colours of autumn are a joy to behold.
