Good Friday
On the way up to our accommodation in Graythwaite Manor, just near the west side of Lake Windermere we stopped off at Waitrose in Preston. Here we bought supplies for our three night stay and had lunch.
We met up with Adam and family around four and made ourselves at home. We had booked two slots in the communal swimming pool and the first happened to be on the first evening of our stay. The kids with Adam and Sarah all had a swim while Maggi made the final arrangements for the evening meal which she had made on Wednesday evening and frozen prior to our trip.
I commandeered the local charger and filled up with juice. Our rental had all we needed but certainly nothing extra. A shortage of cupboard space meant half the things Sarah and Adam and we had brought couldn’t be put away. We only had queen sized double beds and had to share a very small bathroom with the kids. However a large dining area and lounge had plenty of room.

Easter Saturday
On Easter Saturday we drove over to the other side of Lake Windermere where wee had a fairly short walk up one of the surrounding hills to look down over the lake. We parked in a large supermarket because the town itself proved to be a traffic nightmare. All progress through the town proved slow.

After our walk we drove to a small village to visit a pub for lunch that Sarah Grant had recommended, called The Punch Bowl Inn, in Crostwaite. Everyone had the fish and chips except Sarah and I. I picked the celeriac vegetarian option which tasted fine. We all had a tasty pudding and left with full bellies. To return home to our AirBnB.
Easter Sunday
Today we drove, well Adam actually did the driving, to Grasmere, home of Wordsworth. We didn’t actually visit the Wordsworth attractions but just went for a walk in the nearby countryside. On our walk Ollie, Adam’s dog chased a sheep across the hillside and Maggi was reprimanded by a passer-by for being a party to the dog’s misdemeanour.

After the tour of the hillside we just drove back to our stay where Sarah and Adam prepared our late lunch/evening meal. They had brought a shoulder of lamb that had cooked for several hours in the oven with all the vegetables.
Easter Monday
Easter Monday we packed up and drove home. The journey back to 5 hours with a short stop at a service station to top up the battery. The number of charging points at the service station amazed me. There must have been at least 20 chargers.
