Maggi and I arrived at Nice airport on the evening of Monday 5th September and waited around the airport for an hour for Richard and Josh to arrive. We drove back to La Colle, but stopped off at McDonalds in Cagnes for them all to have a burger. Surprisingly for McDonalds it failed to arrive quickly and we hung about for 20 minutes before the delivery of our order.
Since then we haven’t done anything special. We spent late afternoon on the beach on Tuesday. On Tuesday evening the automatic garage doors failed with the car inside. We called Ben K and he promised to come over in the afternoon of Wednesday. Fortunately Andrzej popped in to collect his money in the morning and with his practical know-how and physical strength we managed to open the doors.
Now that we had access to our hire car again we drove to Cagnes and left Richard and J at the Renoir Museum and when to the garage repair shop. I showed them the pictures from the broken doors and they promised to be in contact, but didn’t say when.
In the meantime on Tuesday morning I received a call from Tremona to say that mum had been taken to Watford General by ambulance because the had fallen during the night. The crew had decided that because of her low blood pressure she should be seen in A&E. Naturally I phoned and a doctor returned my call. Basically mum has a urinary infection and as a result is in a state of confusion. She is on a saline drip and intravenous antibiotics. On Wednesday afternoon the doctor reported that he expected her to return to Tremona by the end of the week. Let’s see if that is correct.
On Wednesday late afternoon Maggi and I went to Nice Airport to pick up Jane Campfer who is also staying with us until Saturday. I haven’t seen her for a long time and she looked well and, like me, older. We returned to the house and messed around and ate in again.
I’m not sure what Jane will contribute to our stay. I remember her as very much a fun-loving individual. On last night’s evidence she appears much less lively. Maybe the journey had exhausted her and she will be different today.
I’m still eating too much and my weight rose by another pound to 171.2 this morning.
I can’t believe how much Richard looks after Josh. It’s almost as if Richard is both father and servant. Josh can do no wrong and doesn’t need to do anything that is inconvenient to him.

Yesterday we went to Tourette-sur-Loup and walked around the town. When looking out over the countryside Richard noticed the signpost to La Colle and said he would like to make the walk. Maggi and I had done this in July 2021. I said I was happy to do it with him provided we start early the next day.
I set the alarm for 7:30 had breakfast and waited for Josh and Richard to get themselves ready. We left the house at 8:40 and arrived in Tourette 3 hours later. The walk is only 6 miles long but there are a number of hills in the way.

I used my web site to help guide us along the way. However I did remember most of the route anyway. At the end we stopped at the Bar de Sport and had a couple of beers before Maggi came to pick us up and drive us home.
The boys had a quick shower and then walked down the road to the Atelier de Saveur where we had a very fine lunch for €54 per person including 2 bottles of pretty expensive wine.

For our main course we all chose the Turbot option and it fulfilled all our expectations. After lunch we walked back up the hill, which, following the morning’s exercise seemed much harder than usual. I went straight upstairs on our arrival and had a nice siesta until Maggi popped in to let me know she was going for a swim.
I called Watford General after my siesta and eventually spoke to the nurse responsible for my mother. She told me that mum would continue in hospital until Monday at least. She still receives antibiotics and is comfortable.
