Accident & Emergency Maggi has problems

Tuesday started off very nicely. I had arranged to meet Harry in town and see the Cezanne exhibition again. We met up at the usual time and I found him at the coffee shop at Tate Modern. After a preliminary chat for awhile we went on to tour the exhibition. The show was a lot less crowded than when I had visited it with Jon and Steve.

Maybe because there were fewer people in the exhibition, but generally I preferred the show the second time around. Of course there is the usual hype and bollocks written about the works on show. Here is one example, ” By approaching painting as a process and investigation, where uncertainty plays an internal role, he gave this medium a new lease of life.” Here are a few of the pictures I took.

From the Tate Harry and I walked along the embankment until we arrived at a small burger restaurant. With nobody inside Harry still insisted we stop there to eat. I had an obligatory burger without the bun or chips and a salad instead. Harry eat all the burger, the chips and washed it down with a milkshake. It’s funny how he is much bigger than me.

I wasn’t in a hurry to get back home so I decided to walk further along the Thames Path to Canada Water.

The walk to Canada Water took much longer than I expected. We parted company and I was forced to take the overground to Frugal and Finchley because of severe delays on the Jubilee line. When I caught the Met line and was on the last leg of my journey I received a call from Maggi. She had fallen over in Paddington Street. I called her back when I arrived home and immediately turned round and drove back to town. I found her in a cafe/hairdresser’s where the woman had taken her in and given her a cup of tea.

She was in a state of shock so we drove to UCH where we entered A&E. We were expecting a big wait, but it wasn’t that long. She had an X-Ray and discovered she had a broken patella (kneecap). After giving her some pain killers they then wanted to shift her out. We protested and they kept her in. She spent the night in the busy A&E department lying on the bed and in significant pain.

The next day was a repeat of the night before. Please leave here are the pain killers, we’ll notify you when we can operate. We refused to budge and eventually about 10 o’clock she was moved to a ward on the 8th floor.

All our plans are now up in the air. We cancelled the flights to Nice for the following Wednesday and wait to see what happens with our trip to the USA and Hawaii.
