Economist Quote
Suspicion is a heavy armour and with its weight it impedes more than it protects – Robert Burns
Thank goodness I’m not suspicious of anything I can think of.
Morning and Afternoon
A nice walk today in good but cold weather over Wakehams Hill and through Pinner Farm to the back end. As I walked along I listened to a book on Medieval History. I arrived at Mr Amin’s dental practice to pick up a prescription for antibiotics. However the nurse wanted to me to hang on and have a couple of X-rays.
I continued my stroll back into Pinner and picked up the prescription from Gor and carried on home.
In the afternoon I watched the Wolves v Arsenal match. To my surprise Lewis-Skelly received a red card at the end of the first half which I thought was undeserved. I admit it should have been a yellow card but Red seemed completely over the top. In the second half Arsenal came out with attacking intentions and were by far the superior team. One of the Wolves players also received a red card and Arsenal weent on to win 0-1.
At the Carstairs
Maggi and I arrived at Kay and Ian’s just after 7 pm to find that only Susie and Peter Morgan had arrived. Peter planned to stay the night and had parked his Bentley in the drive. He remained upstairs while Maggi and I greeted Kay, Ian and Susie.
The other people at the do included Lucy and Simon, Sarah and Euan, a party of 10 altogether. Ian had asked us all to bring a bottle of whiskey to taste during the evening. On the previous day I had journeyed into town to Chiltern Street and bought a bottle of Caldenhead which I had sampled. Not a peaty whiskey and very nice.
When we sat down for our Haggis meal I was placed at the end of the table surrounded by Susie, Lucy and Sarah. Certainly this was the quieter end of the table. I chatted to Susie for much of the time and I could hear Maggi, Kay, Ian and Peter Morgan laughing away at the other end. I think the reason for the joviality centred around Peter’s over consumption of alcohol. According to Maggi afterwards he kept forgetting the anwers to questions he had posed. It didn’t take long for me to be fairly bored with the evening’s proceedings and I began to look at my watch sometime around ten. We didn’t leave until 11:30. During that time I had sampled 5 different whiskeys including the Caldenhead that I had brought.
I returned home and watched the Wolves, Arsenal game in highlight form. The pundits all agreed that Lewis-Skelly’s red card was unjustified.
