A quiet couple of days

Wednesday

Maggi began the day complaining about her stomach. By 10 am she called from the loo to ask me to bring her a clean pair of knickers. She had already visited the toilet 4 times and her she wanted to return to bed and just lie down.

I pottered around the house doing nothing very important, but keeping myself busy where I could. At lunch time I toasted a couple of pieces of bread, buttered them and took them upstairs to where Maggi lay. I didn’t have a much more exciting lunch. My two pieces of toast had paté on them and I added a little salad to my plate.

By mid-afternoon Maggi had become a little stir crazy and desperate to leave the house. We drove down to Polygon centre and wandered around. Maggi looked for some paste jewellery which could add to the dress she intends to wear for Scarlet’s wedding in late September. She complained that I didn’t follow her with sufficient enthusiasm into the shops. I did go into the shops but principally for the air conditioning they offered.

Maggi failed to find anything suitable despite visiting more than half-dozen stores. We then stopped in Emile and the Cool Kids for a drink. For some reason Maggi ordered a milkshake which I didn’t think would do her stomach much good. I had a berry smoothie. We shopped for a few things at Grand Frais and then returned home for a little supper and a bit of television.

Thursday

I didn’t wake up until 8:45 which seems extremely late. I came down to breakfast and started to sort out our meal in conjunction with Maggi. As part of this early morning activity Maggi removed the dustbins and found maggots squirming around underneath the bins, and then another maggot writhing across the floor.

We then both went into a major cleaning operation. Cleaning the floor not just downstairs but also upstairs and in the bathroom. We didn’t emerge from this frenzy until 11 o’clock. Another shopping trip to Leclerc to buy toilet paper, kitchen towels and a few other things and then back to the house.

As a result we had lunch fairly late and only a short time for a relaxing siesta like break, because at 3 pm two representatives from Puccetti arrived to look around the house. They remained with us for 45 minutes. They seemed very pleasant, but didn’t tell us much about how they would sell the property. We will wait and see what value they put on the property and what commission they charge.

Rather than going out for a drink we decided to stay in, have a swim and then a drink followed by our supper and a bit of TV.
