First walking day Soller

An excellent Breakfast at our Moonten Hotel this morning and hopefully for the rest of our stay.  Fresh orange juice, mixed fruit in a cup, a type of quiche with salad plus toast made it different and fresh.

We set off on our walk and followed a well worn trail up the valley through a small village called Binaraix and beyond. The path followed the quiet windy road which made the way up quite easy.

We made it to an altitude of 350 m which meant we had climbed 1000ft. At that point the path left the road, and descended fairly sharply towards Fornalutx.

By now the sweat was falling of me and undoubtedly everyone else in the party and we stopped at a bar for a drink. Maggi unusually had a large beer, she was that thirsty. I joined her.

By this time we all felt a bit peckish. I’d noticed that just before our drinks stop we had passed a baker’s. We retraced our steps and all bought a pasty of one sort or another. We sat down on the village centre underneath a large plane tree and enjoyed our snacks.

We continued our descent out of Fornalutx but the route followed the main road to and from Soller. With the frequent number of cars passing up and down made the way not so pleasant.

After a short while we saw a sign to the small village of Binaraix which we had visited on our ascent. We took the diversion. When we arrived in the centre of the village the group decided to stop for another drink.

Another drinks stop

This time Maggi  and I chose to have iced latte. Of course the waiter had never heard of such a drink, but when we explained it to him he said OK. He brought out a cafe creme and a large glass full of ice. We poured the coffee into the glass and we had exactly what we wanted. A nice cooling drink better than you’d receive at any of the British coffee chains.

We walked down from the village and back to our hotel where I managed to get a little siesta before the evening. We started the evening by walking to the main town square.

We discovered that the rest of our party had taken the tram down to Toller Port. As we sat I the square they returned and we chatted for a while. Matt had a drink with us and the rest returned to the hotel.

Meal in Soller

We had another drink at the hotels honesty bar before we walked down the road. Another bottle of wine was opened. Unfortunately I indulged again. By the end of the evening I’d eaten too much and drunk the same.
