From Heathrow to Nice

  • by

Flying out of Heathrow to Nice at 11:30 seems very civilised. The taxi picked us up at 8:45 and before that we had time to eat breakfast and all the other morning duties without rushing. Of course I’d done the majority of my packing the night before.

Our taxi driver liked to talk, but unfortunately I couldn’t understand what he said. His Afghani accent obscured his meaning but he dropped us off safely at Terminal 5.

We sat in the lounge and although we had already eaten breakfast at home I grabbed a bowl of yogurt and some fruit and followed this with a bowl of porridge. I’m not going to lose any weight carrying on like this. To finish off we both made a sausages sandwich that we ate on the plane.

When we arrived at the Avis desk in Terminal 1 the guy behind the desk said he recognised me. Whether he did or not he gave us a better car than I had booked.

We stopped at Grand Frais on the way to the house to pick groceries. To my surprise the bill ended up at €170 and we’d hardly bought anything.

All looked ok at the house apart from the swimming pool which had what looked like green slime on the bottom. We’ve asked Richard our pool man to come over and correct the problem.

Maggi has felt slightly off all afternoon and disappeared upstairs quite early. Her departure coincided with the start of the Champions League semi-final between Bayern Munich and PSG which PSG won. I would have preferred Arsenal to have played Bayern Munich in the final but I had no say in the matter.
