I had arranged to see Fanny this morning. She didn’t want to see us at the office, because she is on holiday at the moment. Over the last few months I have felt that she has taken a lot of time off.
She arrived late for our 11 o’clock appointment and outside the gardeners made a lot of noise with their blowing machines and grass cutting. We sat around the table and she began by repeating the difficulty of selling the house in the current depressed market. I let her continue for a while but then I had to tell her that wanted to terminate the mandate, i.e. the right of her agency Orpi to sell the property.
Maggi and I perhaps expected some kind of push back, but her response had a sense of relief about it. As if I will never sell this property and now I don’t have that responsibility. She then continued and explained that she had an illness over the last 4 or 5 months that had severely limited her role at the agency. She also blamed the agency saying that the other two in the office lacked dynamism and drive and generating enthusiasm in that environment becomes very difficult.
She asked us if we had already appointed another agent and we said we hadn’t and we thought about talking to an agency in Vence. Surprisingly she then spoke about a friend of hers who works out of St Paul. I would be surprised if anything comes of that.
A little trip to Leclerc and then home for lunch and a siesta. Late afternoon we walked down to the Orpi offices and took back our keys.
Tomorrow we start again to try and sell the house either to Vincent who appeared at the gate on Saturday or via an agent in Ven
The evening
I messaged our Saturday visitor who appeared keen on our house in La Colle, and much to our disappointment he said that the house didn’t suit his ideas for a bed and breakfast business.
At 9 o’clock Arsenal played a very mediocre game against Aston Villa. The Gunners won 1-0 but found it difficult to penetrate the Villa defence throughout the game. One bit of inspiration from Califiori and Saka unlocked the door. They’ll need to play better against other teams to retain their title.
