We woke up fairly late this morning and paddled around int the room. The usual thing, shower, ablutions and a little bit of packing.
We descended to breakfast and made sure we packed in a fair few calories. The breakfast food at the hotel remained pretty good. We returned to the room finished packing and descended to the lobby where we left our bags.
The morning staff were nowhere near as helpful as the girl who had welcomed us two days before.
Art Institute of Chicago
We put our bags in storage and then headed to the Art Institute of Chicago.
We spent 2 ½ hours wandering around this gallery. Both of us really enjoyed our time there. They have a really good collection of impressionists amongst other great works.

Purple Pig
We came out and stopped for an Iced coffee. Maggi had a message from Gill Cook recommending a restaurant not far away called Purple Pig. Some really good food, especially the tuna tartare.
We sat near a table where the staff sat, chatted and folded up the napkins. The head chef then presented these staff with the new specials that they were severing this evening. It reminded Maggi of The Bear, without the squabbling. Anyway it was the best meal we’ve had during our whole 3 week stay and I searched out to the head chef to tell him so.
Flight delay
Back to CitizenM Hotel to pick up the bags and then a Uber to the airport. We arrived to find that our flight has a 1 hour delay. We made our way to the American Airways lounge. I had used an American Airways lounge before in New York and found it terribly disappointing so to my surprise it matched or bettered the ba lounge in London.
The delay stretched to 90 minutes and when we eventually arrived at the gate this delay had another extension. Eventually we took off 3 hours behind the original time. I didn’t eat anything on the journey and only drank the introductory orange juice and bubbly and then dozed off or more or less tried to. I always find it difficult to know how much time I spend asleep on a flight because of the interruptions from the plane bouncing around as well as the noise.
We arrived safely and then booked an Uber at the airport which was much more expensive than our normal taxi service, but at least it was there within 5 minutes.
