Last full day at Santani

Again an early start so that we can join the yoga class with Rahul at 7 am. It is the same routine as we have had on all the previous occasions with some very minor tweaks.

From yoga we move on to breakfast. On the way Maggi is rude because she is tired and blames me for keeping her awake through snoring. I don’t think being rude will help the situation at all. Maggi keeps saying she must lose some weight but it never seems to happen. I’m not suggesting she is fat all but only reporting what she says. Today at breakfast I ordered fruit followed by yogurt and some nuts. Not a huge meal, but we have eaten a lot over the last few days.

In contrast Maggi had the same fruit as me followed by granola and yogurt and finally a vegetable omelette. In addition she ate the same number of nuts as me. Not the way to lose weight in my book.

Lunch time salad – delicious

A very lazy morning followed. I am glad we move on tomorrow. While the place has lots of charm in a very attractive location it doesn’t offer much to do after you’ve had a treatment in the spa, taken the river walk and practiced yoga. You can of course swim in the pool or down at the spa.

I’m ready to see more of Sri Lanka and what the county offers. Here I feel cocooned in a luxury resort away from any the lives of Sri Lankans. Since our arrival we haven’t actually left the premises of the resort. It feels similar to Club Med but without any children and less to do.,

Last Evening

Before attending the evening yoga session we visited the warm baths nearby. I thought it might help our ypga exercises, the warm waters, the post swim relaxation and a warm shower. I did try the steam room but I found the heat excessive and so dashed out after approximately 30 seconds.

Following our warm bathing we walked across to the yoga studio. The evening session lasts from 4:30 to 5:30. I felt pretty good at the end of the program, perhaps my flexibility has improved after 4 days of Rahul’s training. Certainly I wasn’t the worst although of course I was along way from the being the best in any of the sessions.

I needed a shower when I returned to the room because another six rounds of ‘salute to the sun’ had made me sweat. After having a drink we discussed Ivor’s latest letter about inheritance tax saving and how to structure our income going forward. This will take a lot of thinking about.
