The original plan for the day involved a walk and then lunch at The Griffin in Amersham and then return home.
This became slightly distorted when I proposed we might want to avoid any muddy walk and instead walk around Ricky Aquadrome and then have lunch. Ray then changed the schedule by proposing we go over to their house for coffee around 11 ish.
Because Jane had brought over some biscuits when they last visited us and we walked around to the Vaghaar that she thought we should take something over to their place. We therefore drove to M&S and bought some balaclava and headed to their house.
Instead of just coffee they had put out croissants and various jams. So we ended up having a sort of second breakfast and leaving their place with no thought of a proper walk but just a wander through the streets of old Amersham.
We arrived at Old Amersham to find the Main Street cordoned off with for a small street market. I parked in the car park and we wandered through the market. I bought a jar of locally produced honey. Maggi popped into the bakery at the back of the Griffin and bought some bread and was given a chunk of an olive and garlic loaf.
We now had a short tour of the Old Town and returned to The Griffin where we all enjoyed a really lovely Sunday lunch. Fortunately Jane and Ray loved the food as much as Maggi and I. All of us felt stuffed so we only ate the main course.
We drove back from Amersham knowing that we wouldn’t eat again today and stopped off at Jane and Ray’s where we had a cup of tea and Ray provided me with an Irish Whiskey called Green Spot.
