Saturday 27th December

1 set the alarm for 6:45 so that I could rise in time to watch Arsenal on the telly. The match started at 7 am and I managed to get my bum in front of the tv with a cup of coffee for that time. The match against Brighton at the Emirates started well. Arsenal scored after 15 minutes, a very good shot from Odegaard from outside the box. For the rest of the half Arsenal dominated. Just after half-time the Gunners scored again, this time from a a corner, one of the Brighton defenders knocked the ball into the net.

As the half progressed Brighton came more and more into the game and then suddenly scored from probably their only shot on target. From now until the end of the match it seemed like everyone’s nerves were on edge. The team kept giving the ball away. At one point I thought that Brighton had scored, but an amazing save by Raya managed to keep all three points in North London. Arsenal still top of the league by two points from Manchester City.

Followiung the match, Maggi, Alex and I drove over to the Washington Park Arboretum for a walk. The arboretum is park of Washington Park a 230 acre site next to the shore of Lake Washington. A walk takes you through a densely packed collection of trees and bushes from around the world. You’ll find it a popular spot for weekend strollers, especially during the warmer weather.

In the afternoon Maggi and I drove up to Safeway to do a little shopping in Queen Anne. We returned and prepared the meal for the family plus Carrie’s friend Rio and her mother. I didn’t find Rio’s mum a very attractive personality, maybe Maggi’s assessment of her had already put me off. Anyway she ate the food that Maggi had cooked and complimented the chef and at the end helped clear up, which a lot of guests wouldn’t do.

When she’d left I slunked off to bed, while the others watched a film which I later learnt received poor reviews from all concerned. I read for a bit and then turned the lights out.
