Another early start for the group. Freddy drove us back up the valley past the quetzal viewing spot to the head of the valley at 3000 m. Our driver had to negotiate several frightening hairpin bends.
At the top we passed along a ridge on the main north south highway through Costa Rica. The panoramas were jaw dropping unfortunately it is so difficult to capture the magnificence on camera.

We began to descend back to the coast This downward trek took more than 1 hour and when we arrived and stopped for a wee break at a supermarket the temperature had risen from chilly to hot and sweaty.
The journey continued to Sierpe where we had another loo stop and picked up a boat to take us to Drake Bay. The journey out of Sierpe followed the river delta with the crocodiles and various other creatures lining the bank.

We finally arrived at our destination which looked marvellous from the water. When we disembarked we had a greeting from the owner of the resort. I have never heard a less enthusiastic introduction to a hotel than this man gave. I immediately thought this man doesn’t like his job.
We were handed key no. 1, a cabin at the far end of the resort. It seemed OK but when we came to use the toilet nothing would go down. I told a member of staff and thankfully someone came to fix it fairly quickly. Unfortunately the room only had one small bed, while others in our party had two or more beds in their rooms. The upshot, we changed rooms to a more central location with 3 beds. Still the accommodation is fairly basic. We just about have Wi-Fi in our room. The food here while not luxurious has been acceptable.
We swam in the pool, eat and drank and shuffled off to bed around 8:30 knackered.
