The Journey to Beaune

An early start to get to LeShuttle for the 10:24 departure. We arrived at the terminal about 8:30 and started queuing. We couldn’t actually enter the site for at least 15 minutes. We then had to wait in the terminal building for 25 minutes until our letter appeared on the screen to call us to proceed.

Once we had passed these hurdles we then had to make our way through the customs and security queues. Finally we waited for the barrier to open so we could proceed to the train. Over two hours between arriving and LeShuttle actually leaving.

We arrived at the next Supercharger station where a bank of approximately 40 chargers stood to attention waiting for help passing motorists. The station stands out in contrast to the local countryside. We didn’t need a big charge and soon set off again.

We drove into the old town of Beaune, capital of the Burgundy wine region. Our hotel sits on the northern side of the town only a few minutes walk into the centre. We enter a modern clean room almost identical to a thousand rooms I’ve been in before, okay for one night.

It was almost 7 pm when we arrived at the hotel so we didn’t have much time to settle in and have anything other than a quick wash and brush up before we left to have something to eat.

We walked around the town for awhile and found a very ordinary restaurant to have our evening meal. Maggi and I had exactly the same meal of Gazpacho and Duck. Both courses tasted fine but without any tastes that could elevated the dishes. We did both have a very nice glass of the local Marange.

We payed our bill and wandered back to our overnight refuge..
