We all set off from the house at different times for a trip to Nice. We parked in the Place Massena and waited as the others arrived inn their turn. First of all we stopped at a cafe on the square but after waiting for 10 minutes decided to move on as no waiter had appeared. The fact that all the drinks had a high price tag may also have influenced us.
We moved on to a group of cabins also serving drinks and a group of us had mulled wine. The place also provided a spot for a group photo.

For some reason which I find hard to comprehend some of the people had decided to bring swim suits. As a result we walked down to the Promenade des Anglais and descended to the beach. While I sat down on the stones several of the party changed into their swimming attire and entered the sea. Some took the brave approach and just ran in while others showed a greater element of caution.

After drying off and returning to normal wear our family decided that socca should be our lunch time treat. We walked across old town Nice to the place Maggi and I have visited before. When we arrived we found it closed. We retraced our steps and queued at another socca establishment. Alex and family decided they didn’t want to indulge and disappeared. Adam and I waited for ages in line, while the others sat on one of the benches. However the swooping pigeons really put them off. Eventually we ordered and by this time the rest had found a seat inside. We ate our socca supplemented by a few plates of chips.
We returned to the house for a quiet evening around the fire.
