The day began very early again and we were up at sunrise to have our breakfast and then follow the waterways of the Tortuguero National Park. The guide had to visit the rangers home before we set off properly to pay the toll to visit the park.
As we cruised along the water we could see a whole range of wild life.

As well as wandering the waterways of Tortugeuro we were also given a tour of the gardens by our guide Alejandro where he pointed out various species and the odd Capuchin Monkey hiding out behind the kitchens.

Our first introduction proper to the wild life of Costa Rica went well and we settled down for the evening meal. I had told Alejandro that today was Maggi’s birthday and to my surprise for our pudding he produced a cake and we all sang Happy Birthday.
Again early to bed with our next day travel beginning at the crack of dawn
