We sat down to a very poor buffet breakfast having spent the night in the worst hotel of the tour so far. The fried eggs were absolutely stone cold. We had all spent so much time complaining about the food that it just didn’t seem worth adding to the list of issues.
When we came to the bill they had removed the cost of last nights food from Maggi and my bill.
We set off for our next destination in the cloud forest at a place called Savegre. All of us concerned about the quality of accommodation we would face. The journey lasted longer than expected because of traffic and we arrived around 1 pm. We all entered the large dining area and were offered a menu.
The food was significantly better than any of the other hotels had offered. While we ate our cases had been delivered to our rooms which consisted of chalets in the grounds of the hotel. The accommodation wasn’t fantastic but it was clean and functional with all the facilities we needed.
After settling in for a bit we went to a place where they had lots of bird feeding stations so you could photograph the humming birds and others that visited.

Freddy then drove us back up the valley at dusk where we would hopefully see a quetzal. We hung about at a couple of spots in the rain until Alejandro decided we were unlikely to see the bird.
Returned home for supper and to bed much happier about our first night in the cloud forest. After dire warnings about the cold we found it quite mild, the same as a damp autumn day in the UK.
The place is full of beautiful plant life.
