Weekend in Scotland

Maggi, Islay and I arrived at Glasgow airport after 10 pm and within a couple of minutes Adam arrived with Keir to pick us up.

On arrival we marched into the kitchen to see the new room. Certainly they had improved what had been a bit of a mess. The kitchen now has bi-fol doors that lead straight onto the back garden with additional windows in the roof which also let in a great deal of light. The whole place has the same look and feel of the rest of the house, with imaginative posters and paintings on the wall. There is a nice window seat with cushions and also a view of the front garden. A good job by mostly Sarah, and a little help from our money.

Maggi and I tried to settle down for a good night’s sleep, but that proved difficult as we had to make the bed and sleep on the bed, settee, which isn’t very comfortable. Maggi complained about my snoring so we both arose the next morning not really refreshed.

Our room for 3 nights

After a walk in the morning with Adam we all went off to Òran Mòr in the West End for dinner. We had an ok meal and some drinks. Kids behaved themselves which isn’t that unusual these days. I then called for an Uber to take us home as it was raining, but when the car arrived there was only room for 4. I took three kids and came home to watch the final of the European Champions League between PSG and Inter Milan. A once sided affair when PSG won 5-0.

Sunday morning and Rachel and Craig came over after having spent the previous evening at their hut. We enjoyed a chat with them until Craig had to go off with his fiddle to play with friends. Following a snacky lunch Adam, Maggi and I walked over to the Tramway Art centre and visited an exhibition by Solange Pessoa. The artworks we saw didn’t impress me.

The floor had various piles of organic material spread out with various lumps of something seemingly scattered randomly around.

From here we walked over to Rachel and Craig’s house where we admired their new front garden which although small had some nice plants and compared with most of the rest of the street was brilliant. Rachel showed us into the new flat they moved into a year or so ago. Very much their previous apartment but with only one floor. More than adequate for a couple and on the ground floor.

In the evening Sarah cooked a nice meal and we went to bed.

Monday morning we mooched around Sarah disappeared for a couple of hours. Adam worked for a bit and then Maggi, Adam and I had a short walk around the locality looking at the very impressive properties in the area. But then adam had to go back to work, Sarah returned and we took a taxi to the airport. I don’t think that Sarah had a thought that she might take us to the airport.

While in the BA Lounge at Glasgow airport Keir Starmer walked in for his lunch prior to flying back to London. With him several large gentlemen with earpieces and bulging jackets gave us all a wary look.
