The Dennett Boys are here

  • by

Saturday 13th can be divided into two halves, the fit and the feeble. I left by car to pick up some provisions from Sainsbury’s that were too heavy to carry. After that particular role I went for a stroll around Pinner. When I returned we had a bit for lunch but I also felt completely lethargic.

Went for a lie down and certainly didn’t feel any better. I even took a Covid test to make sure that I wouldn’t give the disease to Chris & Linda or Richard & Ayida. Thankfully I came up negative again. Both couples arrived just after 4 and the spectacular noise those two boys generated must have been heard on the other side of Pinner.

Everyone started drinking which didn’t quieten things down. Maggi had prepared everything as usual. She dished out the food just before the England v Australia rugby had finished. I had the starter but then adjourned to bed.

I fell asleep by 8 pm watching Master Chef. Maggi came to bed sometime between 2:30 and 3. Next morning my lethargy and aches had disappeared and I was wide awake at 7 am. I watched a bit of television and read some of the paper and then decided to go for a walk. When I returned everyone had eaten breakfast and I received a tongue lash from Maggi. I never thought that everyone would need less than 7 hours sleep.

After the visitors had left Maggi and I had a nice walk to Northwood together and rode back on the tube. We encountered the interesting post box below. These knitted covers for post boxes seem to be spreading like wildfire. I’d love to know who is responsible.
