Waking up, opening the windows and shutters, breathing in the coolish early morning air and starting the day with my yoga exercises has become a regular routine since we arrived in La Colle and today was no exception.
When I descended to make breakfast Maggi still had her eyes shut so I thought I’d leave her be and take her a coffee shortly.
I made a quick tour of the garden to water the plants. They are all looking quite good at the moment while we are down here.
Finished with domestic chores we drove over to St Isidore and the Ikea store. So often we have arrived at Ikea with a couple of items in mind and ended up with a trolley load. Today We came away with the picture frame we wanted and a packet of napkins. I think we left the store just over 30 minutes after arriving.
We had a couple of more stops before we open our gates and then Maggi prepared lunch of salad things plus gazpacho.
This afternoon I made finished the final jigsaw piece so that Maggi could take a picture of a recipe and it will with just two further clicks it will arrive on her phone so she has a database of recipes to search. As usual it took much longer to complete than I expected.
We both felt we hadn’t done enough exercise because of the hot weather so just after 5 pm we walked into La Colle and down to St Eloi. We both had quite a strong gin and tonic. When we arrived the place was empty by the time we left the place was humming and only the owner to serve everyone.
On the way back we knocked on Olivier and Nathalie’s door. At first I didn’t think anyone was in but quite quickly Nathalie came to the door enthusiastic as ever. The main purpose of the visit was to ask them to cut down the fruitless avocado tree that stands in front of our kitchen window. Olivier looked completely knackered which isn’t surprising given that he works outside in this horrendous heat.
We’ll have a quiet evening in football free having refused their half-hearted offer of hospitality. We plan to watch Nirvanna, the band the show the movie
Unfortunately Nirvanna etc disappointed and we gave up on it. Instead we watched Argo directed and starring Ben Afleck. The relives the story of a CIA who returns to Iran during the 79/80 hostage crisis and rescues six Americans who escaped the embassy and holed up in the Canadian ambassador’s house. The agent poses as a film producer scouting a location for a sci-fi movie with 6 co-workers. It won the 85th Oscars best picture award. The performance of Alan Arkin as Lester Siegel the psychotic producer of the non-existent film particularly touched me and made me laugh.
During the film we stopped it and checked that the new sprinkler controller worked, and it does. So a couple of achievements today.
