Jilly had booked at the Spelt restaurant in Tourette-sur-Loup for 12:30. Maggi and I arrived one minute late to find Mads and Tom standing outside and a few seconds later Jilly and David popped out of the shop next door.
I thought it was over 2 years since we had last seen the Bests but when I looked back in my diary we had had a meal in the same place in October 2021 so not that long ago.
I really enjoyed my meal which consisted of a starter of Beetroot with smoked haddock, a main course of of Dorade and a hot chocolate pudding with ice cream in the middle. All of the courses were absolutely delicious.
As usual the event involved multiple conversations. I felt I didn’t have the opportunity to speak to Tom as he sat at the end of the table on the same side with Mads in the way. The afternoon seemed to pass by very quickly although we left at 3 pm and said our goodbyes outside.
