Well what a boring day. I spent the first part of the morning sorting out the daily digest with Claude. Let’s hope it arrives tomorrow with what I expect.
Next I had a pleasant walk down to Eastcote House and walled garden where I sat and listened to the Love Story of John and Paul in songs. I always find it relaxing to sit amongst the flowers and watch the insects gather the abundant nectar available within the walls.
When I came back I listened to Please Please Me which became the first Beatles number 1. However it sounded dated to me now, I found their first single Love Me Do still had a touch of originality and beauty to it.
Shopped for a couple of things and then wasted my time on Soduku puzzles followed by a bit of lunch. Then back to the computer to see if I can gather my thoughts each day and categorise them into some coherent content. It maybe possible, but probably not worth reading by anyone else.
an invasion of starlings knocking down stones onto our flat roof. we shooed them away and a few of them resettled nearby.
Whenever I use the downstairs loo for a wee I look at the collage of old friends and acquaintances some of whom have died, many I haven’t seen for years and a few I’m glad I don’t see anymore. But it makes you see how we looked 30 or more years ago when all of us were in the prime of our lives. Now I look around me and watch as others are in the same position. Maybe they still haven’t found themselves as they struggle with the day to day concerns of family and job. While I am now content in my own skin and I’mm still looking for something else.Pity is I don’t know what.
In the evening we drove over to Jane and Ray’s house for a meal. We took a bottle of wine, some almond cake and the small picture that they had bought us while we all stayed together in France.
On the way we encountered a nasty looking crash. We didn’t see any ambulances, hopefully that means no one was injured.
Jane and Ray who;eheartedly welcomed us. Unfortunately due to the early start I made and the boring nature of my day I can’t say I enlivened proceedings that much. In fact I think Maggi’s enthusiasm annoyed me. We left after Ray had mounted and framed our french picture. He set it in place meticulously. In this sort of thing he is extremely neat.
