After messing around during the day I drove Maggi’s car to Argyle Road in Oxford. The narrow streets with the road lined with terraced housing make parking quite difficult. Certainly you are unlikely to manage to park directly outside your own home. However after one tour of the area we found a spot just up the road from No. 21.
Mark had cooked a tasty dish of braised ox cheek, which I have learnt subsequently is the same as beef cheek. He had cooked the dish in a red wine sauce and it tasted rich and comforting. To accompany the stew he had prepared a very creamy mash potato. The mash perfectly complimented the ox cheek. In addition he had added broccoli spears and chopped beans which seemed totally out of place on the plate. Anyway he had made lots of effort and he received all the necessary compliments.
After dinner we sat and played bridge until 11:30. Gill and Mark had the better hands but we didn’t play the decent hands we had in the best possible way.

We arose fairly late and had breakfast consisting of homemade yogurt and homemade granola, with the additional option of honey from Hannah’s school.
We agreed to take a walk on this nice sunny day. We set off and followed the Thames into Oxford. The river hosted many young people rowing in boats of 1,2,4, and 8. As you walk along the bank these larger boats shoot along the river.

When we arrived at Charterhouse College we turned back.

We walked through the gardens beside the college and its church. The overwhelming impression is of long term wealth.
As soon as we arrived back at Gill and Mark’s house we set off home.
