Last full day in La Colle until July

A very quiet day here in La Colle. Jane and Ray left on Tuesday we had lunch at The Jasmin yesterday and today we have no specific plans. We need to do a few jobs around the house like put away the summer kitchen, and balcony chairs, but none of these things will take very long. So it’s definitely a laze around day.

I feel a little bit guilty about doing very little.

We did go down to Leclerc to buy a few things to see us through until tomorrow lunch time when we fly back to the UK. On our return we dropped into St Eloi for a cup of coffee. After giving our waiter a tip last time he seemed a lot more friendly than usual.

Lunch on the balcony was not a great affair. We had the last of the cheese and the pate that Olivier gave us, followed by an eclair. Although the sun shone brightly a strong breeze brought the temperature right down. As soon as I’d eaten I was back in doors.

The afternoon passed rapidly with a mixture of a short nap messing around, reading and a couple of odd jobs. Maggi and I had decided to eat out in the village in the evening so we didn’t have any more clearing up until we left, except perhaps our breakfast things.

We walked down to Piz’zati and found several waiters and other staff but only us as customers. We had arrived at ten past 6 so it wasn’t tremendously early. Very shortly afterwards people started to gather, but only for drinks. They all sat or stood around a large barrel with a flat of top. When we asked to order they refused to accept anything other than drinks. We had to wait until 6:30 until we could tell the waitress what we wanted. I ordered a Calzone which I thought was quite good. I didn’t eat the thick crust around the edge. It came with a green salad.

At the end of the meal the waitress offered us a limoncello to which I said thank you but no. Instead of accepting that she then offered us a mint liqueur which was just about drinkable.

We returned home and watched two episodes of Race Around the World.
