4th July Parade

Before we set off for the July 4th parade I drove Adam, Sarah and Islay to The Goose to buy the evening meal. They managed to tour the supermarket and get out before I had finished writing one day’s diary entry.

The whole team set off form Maxwelton, a small beach community with only 50 houses in total. We came to the same village for our last July 4 parade on Whidbey. We arrived and a few minutes later the actual parade began.

At larger events the parades include highly decorated floats with lots of people dressed up to support the float’s message and throwing sweets into the crowd. Maxwelton on the other hand has a couple of lorries, a few trucks, a unicyclist, local societies walking along, a Gandalf impersonator on a bike and many other odd balls. One thing in common they throw sweets into the crowds lining the road.

The parade lasted just after 40 minutes and then we returned to Dancing Trees.

Evening

In the evening Sarah and Adam served up a very nice option of meat or vegetable chilli con carne. It tasted good and I returned for a second helping. Despite the dishing out of seconds a large bowlful of chilli remained for another time along with a lot of coleslaw..

Greg played another edition of hunger games before returning and taking part in a karaoke session along with Sadie. A lot of enthusiasm overcame a shortage of talent.
