Gill, Mark, Jane and Garry arrived later than expected because of BA flight delays. Instead of driving into the the gate at 8 pm they ended up here at just after 9 pm on Monday 2nd September. Maggi had prepared a very nice meal based on tuna tartare. We had found the right quality tuna at Grand Frais known as sashimi tuna which you need to serve uncooked tuna. I really enjoyed the meal and hopefully our guest did too.
Tuesday 3rd September
We had booked a table at Aux Vieux Four, the small family style restaurant in Gourdon which we have visited many times before. Jane joined Maggi and myself in our car while Mark drove the hire car. Jane doesn’t like the way Mark drives, he is a very nervous driver and that can cause problems.
We parked at the base of the village and walked along the open land to see the view across to the Mediterranean in the distance. Mark didn’t join us in this short walk.

We all climbed up to the village centre and I took them on a short tour while we waited for our table to be ready at 1:30.
We all really enjoyed the meal. I chose the fish dish which had a very tasty but light sauce.

Wednesday 4th September
Our visit to Foundation Maeght this morning represents the highlight of this stay in La Colle. In addition to the regular display at the Foundation they presented an exhibition on Bonnard and Matisse.

To see such great artists together with some of their best works in such a beautiful surroundings, how can you beat that.
After walking around the special exhibition we spent some time outside which is dominated by the works of Miro.
Thursday 5th
Wednesday evening the heavens opened with thunder and lightning which raged on all night. When we woke the swimming pool was full. Maggi and I decided to lower the level of the water but we went too far. Now the circulation didn’t work properly. We chose to stay and sort out the pool while the others left for Antibes. We agreed to meet them at a restaurant in Antibes.
We refilled the pool and the problem disappeared. We drove to the Fort Careé car park where we stopped beside our visitors car. We walked to Bistrot Margaux where we had a reasonable fish meal.
Friday 6th
A trip to Tourette-sur-Loup on Friday became the highlight of the day. We parked outside the town as usual and walked to the centre of the village. On the way we stopped for a couple of moments to admire the view when a passing tourist offered to take our photo.
