Long time away

It’s a long time since I added anything to this diary. A lot has happened in that time. We have been to France and more importantly Maggi has spent nearly three weeks in hospital. She is now out and recovering at home getting better each day. However this blog is about our short trip to France to check on the situation of our house and get a bit of early spring sun.

14th – 20th May

We left by plane from Heathrow on the Wednesday at 9:30. Maggi complained that she felt really itchy all over. The next day she felt particularly itchy around her eyes. We met Madeleine and Tome at their house and drove on to Sellans for lunch. At the restaurant Chez Hugo we sat outside to have an aperitif. As we sat there along came Clare and Martin, they had originally planned to walk with Debbie and Neil but the forecast of rain put them off spending the time on the mountainside and they changed their render-vous to the same restaurant.

We drank outside and then entered for a meal inside. All very pleasant. After the meal our party had a walk around the village and visited the church.

We dropped Mads and Tom off and then returned home. For the next couple of days we mooched around doing nothing particular. Then on the Saturday we drove up to Gourdon to have a meal at Aux Vieux Four which where we have eaten several times before.

As usual the meal was excellent value.

On the Sunday we walked around La Colle where flowers dominated the market stalls.

We continued to potter around the house and had our final meal of our stay at St Eloi on Tuesday lunch time and flew back to the UK in the evening.

Not an exciting trip but nonetheless very enjoyable. Maggi by this time continued scratching particularly around her eyes which had become quite red.
