ECC committee meeting
I had arranged for Nick, Garry and Jon to meet up at Moorfields Station at the usual 11 am start time. Garry told me he would be passing through Pinner at 10:30 I left the house early for the rendezvous-vous when I received Harry’s message that he was in the second carriage. Suddenly I had to rush to make it to the station on time. Normally this wouldn’t I would arrive on time, but with a dodgy Achilles I struggle to maintain the same pace.
I did arrive on time to meet the train and found Garry sitting in his seat totally unconcerned, despite my warning him that catching his might pose a difficulty. I felt that Garry had shown a certain arrogance in that he was happy to proceed to oregano alone without any compunction.
Moorgate and The Lookout
Soon after we arrived at Moorgate Nick popped up beside us and the three of us had coffee. Jon arrived at the coffee shop late as usual. We headed over to 8 Bishopsgate to The Lookout. At 50 stories high you can see for miles. Unfortunately the weather today we didn’t receive the best of views as the weather was slightly overcast. Nonetheless seeing London from this height can only be described as impressive.

Lunch and a problem of dates
After satiating our appetite for wonderful panoramic sights we returned to the ground and fond a pub where we could talk and discuss our flight to Vienna and next year’s city of culture trip to Trenčín in Slovakia. The problem we faced in our chat arose from a problem with dates. I had a couple of windows which Maggi wanted us to use, Nick didn’t want to go in May and Garry had made tentative arrangements to go to Portugal with a friend in late April. We concluded that Garry would check out whether he could amend his dates. We wait in anticipation.
Bunhill Fields
After a couple of drinks and a very poor sandwich we left and headed towards Bunhill Fields the site of a large graveyard where Daniel Defoe, William Blake, John Bunyan and Susanah Wesley are buried along with thousands of others. By now my achilles had begun to ache and I just wanted to sit down and go home. Jon had left as he had an appointment at Moorfield Eye Hospital for his degenerative eye condition. We walked onto Old Street where we took the train home.
