The end of our stay

Because we had wandered all around the city on three days already we ended up not knowing what to look at on our last morning. We eventually ended up going to the church of St Peter’s the most prominent church in a city full of churches. We entered as the doors opened at 10 am. Outside we found groups of tourists with their guides all waiting like us for the church doors to open.

The church dates back o the 13th C with further additional works in the 15th Century, however much of the build felt the brunt of Soviet and German forces during the war and reconstruction began in 1954 and was completed by 1983.

From our tour of the Evangelical Lutheran church we continued to salter around the city fairly aimlessly visiting the Art Nouveau area and coming back to the old town and having our second lunch at “This Place Doesn’t Need a Name”. A small breakfast cum cafe cum bar just round the corner from our hotel.

Jon didn’t eat but the rest of us enjoyed an open sandwich, sufficiently large to cope with our needs until we returned home.

Our Bolt Taxi arrived on time and took us to the airport for a cost of €16.50, much cheaper than the transport we had when we arrived. This beat the cost that I was quoted by the receptionist at the hotel who said the fare would be €35.

An easy journey to the airport and we arrived with plenty of time to spare. The plane took off on time and Nick dropped us off at Garry’s house where Maggi picked me up. A five day adventure with ups and downs. All the downs associated with my bum.
