Whidbey here we come

Sunday off to Whidbey

As usual we rose early as the Reids all still suffering from jet lag and alll awoke at unearthly hours.

After breakfast Maggi and I had finished packing for our trip to Whidbey. The AirBnB hosts had told us that we could arrive anytime on Sunday as the place had been prepared the day before.

We asked Keir and Islay If they wanted to join us as we did a little shopping and headed towards Whidbey. They both agreed. Maggi had noticed the poor state of Keir’s shoes. They looked like they had less than a mile of walking left in them.

Goodwill

We drove to a charity shop in Ballad called Goodwill. Here Keir we bought a nice pair of trainers for him and threw his old shoes away.

Next stop Safeway in Ballad. The food looked poorer than the same shop in Queen Anne. One man was asked to leave because smelt of piss, another was escorted out because of his preference for not paying for items.

Alderwood

Islay wanted to buy a water container. She had researched on line and found the very one she wanted at Target. We discovered a Target store close to our route to Whidbey and rocked up at the car park.

We walked in and asked about these special water bottles and the assistant pointed in a vague direction. Not what she wanted there. Someone else sent her back to the beginning. Another helper said they only had one left in the store and Islay didn’t really like it.

Meanwhile Keir and I went for a roam around the place and lo and behold we found an aisle with about 50 of the exact bottles she was looking for.

We purchased and returned to the car. We had all breakfasted early and so by 11:30 needed sustenance. We elected to pop into the local McDonalds. All as expected.

The crossing

It didn’t take us long to arrive at Mukilteo where we had to catch the ferry. Alex had already arrived and we both managed to embark on the next boat. The speed between arriving on board and the boat leaving leaving really surprised me. The journey across the Sound takes about 15 minutes.

We drove over to the house and chose the same rooms as we had had two years ago.

Greg made the evening meal as I watch the sunset.
