Saturday 2nd December
We had arranged for Jane and Garry to come over and watch the Arsenal v Wolves match at our house and stay on for supper with Gill and Mark. When I originally invited Jane and Garry to see the game I thought it started at 5:30, but I was wrong. The starting time was 3 pm. Fortunately they didn’t arrive until the second half, which meant they weren’t with us for half the day. I am pleased to say that the Gunners won 2-1, although I was worried when Wolves scored 15 minutes from the end and it looked like they could gain a draw.
The morning had been spent running around doing last minute stuff for the evening meal. I took off to Majestic Wines in Ruislip to buy the booze and then parked up and took a short tour of Ruislip Woods.
Nothing special happened during the evening although the conversation did feature a number of grandchildren which became a bit boring until I could move it on to something a bit more general. Gill annoyed me when she asked for a glass of champagne to start with and after one glass decided she now wanted to drink red wine while no-one else touched the bubbly stuff.
They all departed about 11 and left me time to watch match of the day until 12:30.
Sunday 3rd December
After messing around at home in the morning, having risen late Maggi and I headed off to Tate Britain to see an exhibition entitled Women in Revolt. As an art exhibition it didn’t have much to offer. The sub-title of the show was 1968 – 1990 which tells you more that it was an historical representation of the women’s movement through that period. There is nothing wrong with that but as I had lived through the time and the women’s liberation movement never excited me I didn’t spend too much time at the exhibition.

I waited outside for Maggi to come out and then we ascended the stairs to the member’s cafe where we bought two very expensive sandwiches. On from Tate Britain to John Lewis, from one middle class institution to another, where we bought some sheets and towels plus Elemis shower gel.
Back on the tube to home for an early night.
